    I have lost my card. Can SCATS replace my card?

    The trainer that you took the class from is the only person that can replace your card. If the trainer was with SCATS, then yes, we can replace your card if it is not older than 5 years old. If you took the training with someone else, you must contact the trainer that gave you the training.

    Is there flexibility as to what specific topics may be taught?

    Yes, while some topics are mandatory, the instructor is given a variety of electives and optional topics from which they may choose in order to better tailor the program to meet specific employer requirements.

    If I am a convention worker, why am I told I must get a construction 10-hour card from my union?

    There is no State requirement that workers must complete the courses from the Unions. The requirement is that the employees must obtain the training and cards. While both the construction and general industry training will meet the requirement for conventions, please confirm with your employer which card you will need to obtain.

    Is there an expiration date for course completion cards in Nevada?

    Trade Show/Conventions – OSHA 10/30-hour cards do not have an expiration. However, for the purpose of working in the trade show/convention industry in the state of Nevada. Certain jobs require the 10 and 30 hour OSHA general industry or construction cards to be renewed or refreshed every 5 years from the date of issue. There are no refresher courses or continuing education courses approved at this time. The employees or supervisors must take the course again. For any use not specified in the NRS/NAC these federal cards do not expire.

    Construction – No. For the purpose of working on a construction site in the state of Nevada, the 10 and 30 hour construction cards do not expire. For any use not specified in the NRS/NAC these federal cards do not expire.

    Cannabis Industries – No, for the purpose of working at a cannabis establishment in the state of Nevada. The 10 and 30 hour construction cards do not expire. For any use not specified in the NRS/NAC these federal cards do not expire.

    Entertainment – OSHA 10/30-hour cards do not have an expiration. However, for the purpose of working in the entertainment industry in the state of Nevada. Certain jobs require the 10 and 30 hour OSHA general industry cards to be renewed or refreshed every 5 years from the date of issue.     If I am a vendor at a convention, do I need a card to set up my booth?

    No – If you are manning the booth. Yes – If you are performing convention services in the state of Nevada, NRS 618.9925 “convention service work includes, without limitation: constructing, installing, maintaining, operating, or removing trade show or exhibition displays; loading and unloading equipment and materials; erecting or dismantling booths and structures; rigging display areas; and installing temporary electrical power for use in display areas.” There is no minimum time requirement.

    Do convention workers from out of state need a 10/30-hour general industry card if they are here for 1-2 days to set up and then come back later to do a tear down for 1-2 days for the same event?

    Yes, NRS 618.9930. The worker has 15 days after being hired to present the card to the employer. It does not matter how long the work/job is, only on the tasks they will perform.

    No. This is a Nevada requirement.

    The Occupational Safety and Health Administrations (OSHA) Outreach Training Program is a program to train workers in the basics of safety and health hazard recognition and prevention and has been in existence for over 50 years. The curriculum includes 10 or 30 hours of actual classroom instruction developed by OSHA, but does not include time allotted for breaks or meals for the students.
